Introduction

The process of leaving care and transitioning to adult life can be a challenging and confusing time. This guide has been created to tell you about all the support that we have in Tameside for you as a Care Leaver.

We know that it is a big step when you move out of care and start living on your own or with friends and it can be confusing and complicated at times and you will need people around to guide you when you need support. The role of the Care Leavers Services is to be your guide, your support, your advocate and a friendly face to share your worries and successes with. We will work hard for you, advocate for you, challenge you and help you build a community of relationships who will support you when you need it.

This booklet is our offer to you and contains all the information about what support is available and who, when and where to go to for help and advice.

We value the input of our care leavers; consequently, a number of care leavers have been involved in developing the offer as it is important that you value the support that is being provided.

We will continue to listen to your views and to make sure the services we offer are what you need.

Your Social Worker or Personal Adviser will talk with you about the information in this guide and can provide further copies on request.
