How do I obtain a permit to deposit a skip on the highway?
Skip companies wishing to apply for a permit to deposit a skip on the highway have two options
- Apply for a permit on an ad-hoc basis
you can complete the Ad-hoc skip permit application 2023-24 then email or post back to us with a copy of your Public Liability Insurance (minimum £5,000,000) and Waste Disposal Licence. Payment for this can be made over the phone 0161 342 8355.
Skips should not be placed on the highway until confirmation that the appropriate documentation and fee have been received and permit actually issued.

you can complete the Skip Registration Form 2023 - 2024 and email or post back to us with a copy of your public liability insurance (minimum £5,000.000) and a copy of your waste carrier licence. Payment for this can be made over the phone 0161 342 8355.
Why apply to go on the register?
Companies are invited to join the council's registers, which run from April to March yearly.
After registering please email skip_scaffolding@tameside.gov.uk to obtain your permit. The annual cost is £120.00

How long does a Permit last for?
Your permit will last for a maximum of 2 weeks from the date of issue.
How can I make a complaint regarding location of a skip?
Skips must not be sited on a footpath.
Any complaints about the location or safety of a skip should be report to us immediately by completing the online complaint form
