Cost of living support available through Tameside Family Hubs

Cost of living supportSUPPORT is available for people having difficulty paying the bills, with some upcoming Helping Hand sessions through the borough’s family hubs where residents can get support with a variety of issues.

These are open to all Tameside residents and are organised by the council's Welfare Rights team to provide information, advice and signposting for people struggling financially.

Next drop-in session dates:

  • Every Second Tuesday of the month, 10.30 – 11.30am. East Family Hub, Ridge Hill Children’s Centre, School Crescent, Ridge Hill, Stalybridge, SK15 1EA.
  • Every first Tuesday of the month, 10-11am. South Family Hub, Flowery Field Children’s Centre, Old Road, Flowery Field, Hyde, SK14 4SQ. 
  • Every third Monday of the month, 2-3pm. North Family Hub, St Peter’s Children’s Centre, Trafalgar Square, Ashton, OL7 0LL.
  • Every last Friday of the month 10-11am. Tameside Wellness Centre – Denton, Lance Corporal Andrew Breeze Way, Denton, Manchester M34 3RD.

Anyone needing support with finances, including debts and income maximisation, should pop in where the team can provide advice or signpost to a relevant organisation.

Cllr Eleanor Wills, Tameside Council Executive Member for Population Health and Wellbeing, said: “The rising cost of living is putting a strain on many households in our community. These Helping Hand sessions are designed to provide practical support and guidance to help residents manage their finances and access essential services. We encourage anyone who is struggling to attend these sessions and take advantage of the support available.”
