Real Christmas trees can be recycled in aid of Willow Wood Hospice, Ashton. Register for collection at www.just-helping.org.uk/register-tree. Alternatively, chop it up and put it in your brown bin. Don’t forget to take the decorations off first.
The council will collect any additional recyclable Christmas waste which is left out with your black or blue recycling bins if it’s in a clear or labelled bag.
If you don’t already have the council bin app, download it from Apple Store or the Google Play Store for updates and alerts for your Christmas waste and recycling collection arrangements.
Please park considerately so that waste vehicles have unimpeded access to all areas and roads where bins are kept.

Cllr Denise Ward, Tameside Council’s executive member for environmental services, said: “There won’t be too much disruption to normal schedules over Christmas but please check so that you’re sure which days to put your bins out.
“I would like to offer my own and the council’s thanks to all residents who make the effort to recycle. By doing so you’re helping the environment by keeping the amount of waste sent to landfill to a minimum.
“Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank our bin crews who work so hard not only over Christmas, but throughout the year and in all weathers.”
