iNetwork Co-Mentoring Scheme
We are happy to launch Peer Connect – the iNetwork Co-Mentoring Scheme!
This programme connects public sector professionals across our network to share experience, build supportive peer relationships and learn from each other in a flexible environment.
Co-mentoring invites colleagues to work in thinking-partnerships to support and extend each other’s professional development. Unlike traditional mentoring, co-mentoring does not rest on one colleague having superior knowledge or experience. Because of its reciprocal nature, co-mentoring benefits both participants equally.
This programme will run over the course of three months, a perfect amount of time for you to develop a relationship and see if you want to continue the mentor pairing within or outside the programme, as well as the option to get paired again in our second cohort!
If you are interested in registering your interest please complete the short form or scan the QR code >>>
The programme includes:
An initial opening session, where all peer mentors come together online to meet, establish shared ground rules and explore hints and tips for a successful co-mentoring partnership.
Monthly co-mentoring sessions, where each pair meets for at least one hour. You may choose to meet more frequently depending on needs and availability.
A final sharing event, where we celebrate the end of the programme and reflect on key learning.
What do Co-mentors get out of iNetwork Peer mentoring?
Co-mentors are given valuable time and space for creative thinking. Co-mentoring conversations are non-judgemental, based on empathy and mutual respect. Co-mentors support each other to pause, reflect, reconnect and review their professional lives from a new perspective. Through exploring their own skills and development needs, co-mentors are inspired to take their learning back into their own organisations, create new partnerships, strengthen learning, develop new approaches to leadership, and establish new ways of working.
Applications & Match-ups
Co-mentors are carefully matched to ensure they get the best from the programme. Applicants to the mentoring programme will complete an application form where we will understand their role, their personal characteristics including their values, and details on who they believe would be a beneficial pair for them. The iNetwork team will then conduct the matching of the pairs based on many criteria such as values, interests, job roles, geography etc.
Next Steps:
The iNetwork team will contact you in early September with your pairing. You will then be invited to attend the Launch event mid September. It will then be down to you, with guidance provided by us, to make initial contact with your co-mentor. If you have any questions, email the team at iNetwork@tameside.gov.uk
