Support inclusive employment in Tameside
Are you an employer looking to build a more inclusive and diverse workforce? The Routes to Work – Wage Reimbursement Scheme offers financial and practical support to help you recruit local residents with a disability.
This initiative is part of Tameside Council’s commitment to promoting equality in the workplace and supporting residents into meaningful employment.
What the scheme offers:
- 13-week trial employment period with full salary reimbursement (up to 36 hours/week).

- No recruitment fees – just practical help and funding to support your business and the employee

What’s expected from employers
To participate, you’ll need to:
- Provide a safe and suitable workplace.
- Commit to employing the individual for the 13-week period.
- Pay at least the National Living Wage (or National Minimum Wage based on age).
- Submit signed timesheets and payslips at agreed intervals.
- Complete an application form and sign a declaration agreeing to the scheme’s terms.
The Council may carry out routine checks for auditing purposes.

This scheme is open to businesses in Tameside that:
- Have a genuine job opportunity available.
- Can provide a supportive and inclusive working environment.
- Are willing to consider long-term employment beyond the trial period.
