New staff are the perfect fit for Topsy Curvy

A local employer has successfully recruited two new members of staff thanks to the support of our Routes to Work team. Routes to Work is a Tameside Council funded provision aimed at anyone who, because of a disability, has struggled to access mainstream services and find employment. 

Topsy Curvy was founded in early 2013 by Jo Frost. At 25 years old and a size 24-26 she struggled buying clothes and decided there was a gap in the market for a company who used plus size non-professional models to advertise their clothing. Jo wanted to create a place that not only supports a small team’s dream; but also supports a community of people from all walks of life, all striving for acceptance and decent clothes. They have accomplished so much since 2013 they were looking to expand and employ two new members of staff.

Jo Frost at Topsy Curvy said: “Routes to Work have really benefitted us because they have been helpful, linking us to the right people for our business. It revealed opportunities we would not have found otherwise. Our two new staff members have been a great fit and we would definitely get in touch with Routes to Work when looking to recruit again. We are a Neuroinclusive employer and encourage other businesses to explore the diversity of different minds in the workforce — it’s an incredible opportunity to discover and nurture new talent.

When asked what Topsy Curvy thinks of the two new hires they said: “They have been great, and both have a good attitude to doing the job right and have very quickly become brilliant assets to the team.’
