Homes, Spaces, Places – Shaping Tameside for Tomorrow
A scoping consultation was undertaken for a period of 10 weeks from 8 July 2024 to 16 September 2024. The purpose of the scoping consultation was to seek views on what Homes, Spaces, Places ought to contain, what the key issues facing the borough are and how the council should address them.
The Homes, Spaces, Places Scoping Plan was produced to provide a summary of high-level relevant background information and some initial key considerations to assist responses to the consultation, to guide the subsequent development of Homes, Spaces, Places. The scoping plan was split across seven themes of Centres, Environment, Homes, Jobs, People, Travel and Places.
A review of the scoping plan in relation to the Integrated Assessment was undertaken and published as part of the consultation; see the Homes, Spaces, Places Scoping Plan Integrated Assessment (April 2024) for further information.
A ‘Call for Sites’ consultation was held alongside the scoping consultation as an opportunity for anyone to put forward land that they would like to be considered for potential development, or to see protected from development. Further detail on what the Call for Sites involves can be found here.
A total of 247 responses were received to the scoping consultation. A summary of the main issues raised during the consultation and the council’s response to these is provided in the Homes, Spaces, Places Consultation Summary Report.
A total of 39 sites were submitted through the Call for Sites consultation. A map of the sites submitted can be viewed in the Homes, Spaces, Places Scoping Call for Sites Submissions document.
Details of the consultation, including who was consulted and the methods used, are set out in the Homes, Spaces, Places Scoping Statement of Compliance. Details of cooperation with the prescribed Duty to Cooperate bodies around the scoping consultation is set out in the Homes, Spaces, Places Scoping Duty to Cooperate Log of Collaboration.
The outcomes of the scoping consultation were used to assist in the preparation of the Options and Preferences stage of the process.
