- School Advisers
We are a team of qualified Career Advisers who are based in schools across Tameside. You will have support from us from year 9 options through to year 11 when we will be discussing post 16 options; these can include college, apprenticeships or employment. We work with you on a 1:1 basis, discussing your personal aspirations and suitable pathways and also in group settings, providing guidance on everything from the application processes to CV writing.
- EHE
If you are electively home educated, you are still entitled to career guidance advice, and you will be invited to attend college taster days in year 10. Going forward into year 11, one of our career advisers will be in touch to give you the opportunity of an appointment to discuss post 16 options, just as you would have had in school. This can take place in a mutually agreed location which is comfortable for you.
- Applying to College
College applications typically open in the September of year 11. Most applications are done online via their websites but there are some that still require paper applications to be competed. Having a look through the college websites will give you an insight into what each course offers and how its delivered, the website should also provide information on open days / evenings. It’s always a good idea to visit colleges you are interested in applying to, as this will give you a better understanding of the courses and environment you will be studying in. Always check the college website for application deadline dates, some allow applications throughout the year but others close as early as December.
