KiranTwenty-five-year-old Kiran is a resident in Tameside with learning difficulties. She has worked with the Routes to Work team since November 2024.

Although Kiran was pro-actively looking for employment, she needed guidance to be help her apply for the right positions for her needs. It was important to her that the location of the role was convenient, working out whether she had the relevant qualifications, and if the working environment was suitable for her and would allow her to practice her faith observing Ramadan and having time for prayer whist working.

After identifying what she was looking for, Kiran worked with the team to enhance her interpersonal skills, such as creating a new CV, digital skills, travel training, job searching and support with job applications. The support continued with interview preparation and also chaperoning to interviews, when necessary, to help release any anxiety that Kiran had.

Kiran is now in full employment, and ongoing employment support is provided by an Employment Officer and support worker when necessary.

Her employer is disability confident, and communication is always open between the service and her employer to ensure the best support. Kiran now knows that the team will be there to support her whenever necessary.
