Tameside Autumn Jobs Fair connects record-breaking number of residents with new opportunities
Hundreds of Tameside residents were able to access job vacancies, training opportunities and career support at this year’s Autumn Jobs Fair.
A record-breaking 1,170 residents attended the free drop-in event at Dukinfield Town Hall and took the opportunity to meet employers face-to-face, making it the biggest and most successful one to date.
More than 40 employers and 20 training and support providers came together to showcase opportunities and offer careers advice, helping residents explore new job prospects and pathways into work.
Organised by Tameside Council’s Employment and Skills Team and sponsored by Northern Marking, the event was held on 23 September and provided access to hundreds of employment opportunities in one location. A wide range of employers held stalls in the main hall, with Tameside Council services in a second hall and support providers in a third.
The jobs fair provided a valuable opportunity for residents to discover the wide range of roles available across different sectors and find out more about the companies and organisations recruiting in the area.
Employers in attendance included Tameside and Glossop NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester Airport, Greater Manchester Pension Fund, Army Royal Artillery, and PureGym. Many of Tameside Council’s teams ran stalls and there was also support from training providers such as Mantra Learning, Construction Skills Academy, and Tameside College.
The jobs fair aimed to link local talent with available roles, filling vacancies and providing benefits for both employers and those looking for new positions. Attendees could apply to full-time and part-time jobs live on the day and learn about opportunities they were not previously aware of.
There was also expert advice available to help people with their employment journey, including CV tips, job application guidance, and interview support.
Tameside Council Executive Member for Lifelong Learning and Culture, Cllr Leanne Feeley said: “It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout at this year’s Autumn Jobs Fair and great to have received such positive feedback from both residents and employers.
“These events play an important role in connecting local people with jobs, skills and support, helping residents take the next step in their careers while enabling employers to recruit talented local people.
“I would like to thank everyone who attended and organised the day for helping to make this our most successful jobs fair yet.”
Tameside Council holds jobs fairs twice a year, with the next one planned for Spring 2027.
