Crisis and Resilience Fund
Tameside Council has received funding from the UK Government to administer the Crisis and Resilience Fund.
This funding covers the period of 01 April 2026 to 31 March 2029 and supports:
- Low-income households facing a sudden, unexpected financial shock
- Activity that helps individuals and communities become more financially resilient
There are several strands of support being offered across Tameside:
Crisis Payments
To support low-income households:
- Who have experienced financial shock, defined as a sudden and unexpected expense or a loss of income that places pressure on their household budget and wellbeing; or
- To prevent individuals from entering crisis, by offering timely assistance that helps people manage financial pressures, retain stability, and avoid crises developing or escalating
It is important to note that Crisis Payments are intended to meet a one-off short-term need and cannot provide an alternative of regular income.

Housing Payments
To provide limited discretionary financial support towards housing costs to those who are entitled to:
- Housing Benefit, or
- Universal Credit Housing Costs,
- and
Have a rental liability, - and
Require further assistance with housing costs
