You Said, We Did, Homes, Spaces, Places Consultation
Residents were asked a series of questions on 7 key topics, the details of which can be found in the baseline document here. We also ran a “Call for Sites” consultation at the same time, the documentation for which can be accessed here.
The Scoping Consultation report summarises who we consulted and the key themes and comments per topic. It can be accessed here, however in terms of consultation responses– we received:
- 212 online survey responses
- 32 emails
- 39 sites submitted to the call for sites, in excess of 200 hectares, predominantly seeking residential uses.
The top thematic priority from the full online survey was “People” (which includes health, education and social infrastructure) with 65% of respondents selecting it as the top priority (1st or 2nd priority); whilst 33% of those responding selected “Environment (climate change, biodiversity and environment)” or “Homes” theme as their first or second choice. 31% considered “Jobs and Employment“ as a priority for the plan, putting it as first or second choice in question 4. “Places” (12%), “Travel” (10%) and then “Centres” (16%) were considered important, but placed further down the rankings.
The results of this survey will form the evidence base for our “Homes, Spaces, Places Options and Preferences” document. This will set our policy approaches that are emerging to address the issues required by Places for Everyone and national policy, as well as those highlighted during the consultation. This document is currently under preparation and will be completed for publication/ consultation in April 2025 as our next stage of the plan-making process.
