You Said, We Did - Council Tax Support Scheme consultation 2025-26

From 1 April 2025, the Council was proposing a scheme that is easier to understand and more supportive for the people most in need, banded by income. 

 The changes to the Council Tax Support Scheme will affect working age households within Tameside, who will receive Council Tax Support from 1 April 2025. 

 The consultation asked for feedback on the main components of the scheme.

No objections were made by the major preceptor GMCA.

A total of 1,174 responses were received. 

The majority of all responses received from the public agreed with the proposed changes. 

The consultation also invited comments where a consultee disagreed with the proposal or had an alternative suggestion.  
 

New Council Tax Support banded scheme implemented from 1 April 2025.
