Why refilling matters

If just 1 in 10 people refilled a bottle once a week, 340 million plastic bottles could be saved every year.

  • The UK uses 13 billion plastic bottles every year, nearly 60% of them water bottles
  • Around 700,000 plastic bottles are littered every day in the UK
  • Almost half of plastic bottles are never recycled

 Protect our environment

  • Bottled water is up to 900 times more carbon‑intensive than tap water
  • Making just one plastic bottle uses over 8 litres of water
  • Plastic bottles account for one‑third of plastic pollution in the sea

Save money

  • Bottled water costs 500–1,000 times more than tap water
  • The UK spends over £1.8 billion a year on bottled water
