Street Cleaning
The Council is committed to keeping the borough clean, safe, and free from litter.
Our street cleansing service includes:
- Mechanical and manual street sweeping at frequencies designed to maintain clean town centres, residential areas, and public spaces, free from litter and road debris.
- We aim to sweep streets every 42 days. However, during periods of leaf fall and winter weather, this frequency will be adjusted to meet operational demands.
- The removal of accumulations of rubbish from Council-owned land.
- The emptying of litter bins at intervals intended to prevent them from becoming full during normal use.
- Support for locally organised community clean-up events.
- The prompt removal of offensive or racist graffiti whenever practicable.
- Prioritising the safe removal of discarded syringes and other hazardous waste.
