Tameside Educational Psychology Service has been co-produced with children and young people across Tameside. An important part of co-production is that it is ongoing. Therefore, we are constantly asking for feedback on our service. We want to know what children and young people, parents and carers, and practitioners think of our service and how we can make it better. If you would like to provide feedback on our service, please fill out the survey: Feedback form. Alternatively, you can contact us on: EPS@tameside.gov.uk.
We will use this information to improve how we work with children, young people, parents and carers, and practitioners. Our team will meet every half term to discuss feedback and post what we have done with this information on this page.
Feedback from children and young people
Below is a video which explains what we have learnt so far from children and young people and how we have changed how we work:
2025-2026 Feedback
The information below outlines the feedback we have received from the children/young people, parents/carers and educational settings that we have worked with in the academic year 2025-2026. It also includes how we are developing our practice based on this feedback.
| Feedback received: | What we are working on: |

Some parents/carers reported feeling uncertain about what to expect during the statutory assessment process and would have appreciated more information about the process. |
We have made a parent/carer guide to the EHCP assessment process Parents EHCP info leaflet.pdf. We also ensure that the team are available via phone and email to answer questions throughout any involvement with the service. |
|
Waiting for appointments and the availability of EP time were identified as difficulties by some settings and parents/carers.
|
We are mindful to offer a range of different forms of support, for example virtual and in-person consultation, workshops and training. We try to offer sessions at a variety of times throughout the day to maximise our reach. This is an area we will continue to improve on. |
|
Better organisation of meetings/including times/dates that work for children and young people. |
We have developed a template for how we book work in with schools/settings that is clearer around the organisation of the meeting; including the importance of booking in a time/date that works for the child/young person. |
|
Some feedback was around a need for the service to develop their neuroinclusive practices |
In the last 2 years we have appointment a Neurodiversity lead in our service who is continuing to develop our practice in this area. |
|
Some parents/carers shared how they wanted changes made to EP report. |
EPs are happy to discuss any queries, additions or suggested amendments. For our traded work, all reports have the EP’s direct email address on so they can be contacted. For statutory reports (as part of the EHCP assessment process) there is now specific advice on how to request amendments. |
|
Report turnaround times were highlighted as an area of concern.
|
We have agreed that all EPs will completed traded work reports within 3 weeks. All statutory work (as part of the EHCP assessment process) must be completed within 6 weeks in line with statutory timeframes. If we are unable to complete work within this timeframe a setting/parent/carer will be contacted and explained why and when they will receive the report. |
|
Developing more support for setting around developing staff’s understanding of the needs of children and young people struggling to access schools/education. |
We have looked at our current offer in supporting schools in this area and expanding on this for this year. |
|
Developing more parent/carer workshops/support. |
This year we will increase our offer around parent/carer support. |

“(The EP) was super helpful and the parents left the meeting with him with lots of ideas to help their child.”
“Your understanding of the pupils needs, and how they are best met. Listening to us and respecting out thought and opinions too. Then the consultation report was written up very quickly.”

“Open and honest conversations held in a supportive and solution focused way. “
“(The EP) was friendly and approachable, she explained everything thoroughly.”

Children and Young People’s involvement in the recruitment of our team
In 2021 we developed a survey with the youth council which asked children and young people to share their views about what sort of qualities, experience and understanding practitioners in our team should have. We got some really fantastic information that we have used to in our recruitment process for those who wish to work in our team. This includes:- Making changes to our person specification
- Adding to interview questions
- We are also hoping to have a children and young person's interview panel
We are going to review this process and will update on this page what we are going to do next.
If you would like more information about this project please contact us on: EPS@tameside.gov.uk
