Our Social Work Academy

Our mission to ensure our local children are at the heart of everything we do is to find and keep the very best people. We are the first in Greater Manchester to develop a new and unique approach through:

• Our Assessed and Supported Year in Employment programme, which sets out a 3-year plan for the support and development of our newly qualified social workers.
• Our new Social Work Apprenticeship, delivered in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University, for those looking for a “hands on” approach to becoming a qualified social worker.
• Our support and development package for students working alongside us as part of their journey to qualification.

We are in the process of developing and delivering the following:

• Continual Professional Development programme, which brings together the training and development offer from both Tameside Council and the Children’s Safeguarding Partnership.
• Leadership Development programme, designed to explore and develop the leadership we need to move forward on our improvement journey.
