There are a variety of groups which you, your parents or carers, can get involved with in Tameside. By taking part, you can make sure we better meet the needs of children and young people, putting children and young people at the heart of Tameside.

Outloud | LGBTQ+ OUTLOUD is a youth project specifically for young people who are 11+ we deliver 2 Groups dependant on age, Groups are a chance to meet other LGBTQ+ young people in a safe environment, Who, either identify as LGBTQ+ or are questioning their sexuality or identity. They are a place where young people won’t be judged, a place to make new friends, build connections take part in activities and learn new things. Young Carers Forum | The Tameside Young Carer’s forum meets fortnightly during term time and provides support for young people aged 8-18 years to who care for someone who is unwell or disabled. Support available also includes: One to one support is available on request from family, schools, or other professionals. This support can be specific to the need of the young person. Half term activities and residential trips. Opportunity to meet other young carers who have similar roles and increase their friend base. GM Youth Combined Authority | The YCA gives young people in Greater Manchester the opportunity to have their voices heard and influence GMCA policy and decision making. Tameside has two representatives. Care Leavers Teatime Club | The club meets for two hours every Monday evening to enable care leavers to come together and learn budget-friendly cooking skills, from kitchen basics to delicious recipes. Young People’s Drop In | The Employment and Skills team run a ‘Young Person ‘s Drop In’ on a Wednesday afternoon 1pm-4pm. This event is aimed at 16-24 year olds with a focus on our Looked After Children and Care Leaver’s but any young person is welcome. The drop-in exists to provide information and support on Employment, Training and Education. Young Persons Independent Advisory Group | We aim to meet quarterly and mirror what the IAG (Independent Advisory Group) does by providing views on policing issues.
