Pride in Place: Ashton-under-Lyne
£20 million. 10 years. A stronger Ashton – shaped by you.
Local people are helping make Ashton even better
People in Ashton have told us what matters most to them. We listened.
Now the first Pride in Place projects have been approved and work will begin across the town. These projects will help make Ashton safer, cleaner and a better place to live, work and visit.
What is happening?
The first Pride in Place projects include:
- a new evening security team to help people feel safer in the town centre
- improvements to King George V Park, Oxford Park and Waterloo Park
- £750,000 to improve Ashton Market Hall and create more space for food, events and local businesses
- funding for local community groups and activities
- a youth art project to brighten subways and help people feel safer using them
- a new Adult Support Hub offering advice and support
- more events and activities in the town centre
- sports and leisure grants to help more people get active
- new skills and training opportunities through Tameside College
- a "Dragon's Den" style fund to help local people start a business
Have your say
This is only the start.
Over the next 10 years, Pride in Place will continue to invest in Ashton, and local people will help shape what happens next. Nearly £20 million has been allocated to support projects that make Ashton a better place to live, work and visit.
