It's time to get sowing, growing, baking and making if you want to enter the prestigious and ever-popular Tameside Horticultural Show which takes place at Stalybridge Civic Hall on the weekend of 1 and 2 September.
“Floral” categories for this year’s competition include: begonias, carnations and pinks, chrysanthemums, dahlias, floral art, general cut flowers, gladioli, horticultural produce and pot plants.
In terms of crafts, there will be art, baking, handicrafts, preserves, photography and sugar-craft skills. The classes also have sections for youngsters aged 16 and under.
Cllr Jackie Lane, who heads Tameside’s In Bloom project, said: “The horticultural show gets more popular by the year. Last time there were 25 per cent more entries than in 2010. The judges were extremely impressed by their quality.”
